The example of tap water shows how even small changes in daily behavior and consumption can achieve a lasting positive impact. Tap water is significantly more environmentally friendly than bottled water. For this reason, we consciously rely on tap water in all office spaces, raise awareness for the sustainable use of water resources together with Wasser für Wasser (WfW), and strengthen water and sanitation supplies in Zambia and Mozambique.
In Switzerland, clean water is a matter of course – and a privilege. It is checked several times a day for high quality using sophisticated analytical instruments. Furthermore, our tap water is not only available almost everywhere and at any time, but is also environmentally friendly and inexpensive. However, the picture is different in many parts of the world: tap water is unavailable, limited in access, too expensive, or contaminated. Around 844 million people worldwide lack basic access to safe drinking water.
Companies operate within an ecological and social environment: we see it as our responsibility to promote environmentally conscious behavior and social commitment alongside economic efficiency. As a WfW partner, we therefore consciously rely on tap water in our office and avoid bottled water. In this way, we jointly promote the environmentally friendly consumption of drinking water and raise awareness of the value of a safe tap water supply.
With our partnership contributions (we donate a fixed amount for every drinking water filter or replacement cartridge sold), we provide financial support for WfW’s project work and systematically strengthen water and wastewater supplies in structurally disadvantaged settlements in Zambia and Mozambique. Furthermore, our partnership promotes vocational training in the water sector and deepens awareness-raising efforts (WASH workshops).
Wasser für Wasser (WfW) is a politically and denominationally independent non-profit organization with the vision of sustainably changing the way water is used. WfW implements water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in Zambia, Mozambique, and Switzerland.
In Zambia and Mozambique, WfW operates in structurally disadvantaged urban areas and works closely with local organizations and institutions. WfW is committed to safe access to drinking water and sanitary facilities for all. In Switzerland, more than 500 WfW partner businesses have already implemented concepts to promote tap water. Furthermore, WfW is committed to raising awareness of the value of a safe drinking water and wastewater supply and the environmentally friendly consumption of water.
